Ramsgate Beach to Cape Solander

Mapramsgatebeachtocapesolander.jpg

This is a good ride of about 45  kilometres in all, around the shores of Botany Bay.

Park at Ramsgate Beach and follow the marked  pathway south along the shoreline through the suburbs of Sans Souci, Dolls Point and Sandringham. Proceed over the Captain Cook Bridge and then into Woodlands Road. Go left at the entrance to Taren Point Shorebird Reserve. The well-marked path goes along the mangrove shoreline until you reach the soccer fields. Turn left into Captain Cook Drive on the dedicated cycle lane, past Southern Cross Stadium, the home of the Cronulla Sharks.

Ride along the bike lane all the way to Kurnell. At the round-about with Torres Street go right and ride  to the nature reserve then continue to the left. You can go right at Cape Solander Drive, or continue to the beachfront at Kurnell. Follow the Monument Track to Captain Cook's Landing Place. Continue to the Kurnell Visitor Centre, passing through the car park onto the road and then left into Cape Solander Drive.
The ride ends at Cape Solander Lookout, overlooking the spectacular coastline. At the right time of the year you may see whales migrating up and down the coastline.

To return, retrace the journey to Ramsgate Beach.
